Stress and Dehydration
A puppy can dehydrate in as little as 24-48 hours

Don't forget the

WATER

When a puppy has a change of environment, food, people and/or other animals,

and when they go to their new home, they can go under a lot of stress.

Shipping can cause stress too.

The stress can cause diarrhea. The pup may vomit, not eat or drink very well and it could cause dehyration.

If a pup is vomiting, panting, has diarrehea and not taking in enough water they can become dehydrated in as little as 6 hours.

To help reduce the stress, a pup needs to stay in one place that they can call home.

Keep the pup on the same food that the breeder had been feeding the pup until the pup is completely out of stress and stools are normal before even thinking about changing the food. If you do choose to change the food, do it very gradually over a good period of time. This could last a week to maybe three weeks or more.

Taking the puppy to different places right after he or she has been brought to it's new home can cause stress where the pup hasn't made the adjustment or change. When the pup goes here and there, and back to here and there, they can have a very, very difficult time of adjusting which results can be on a sick puppy that is stressed with vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration and more.

Some pups, no matter how often you take them for a ride in your vehicle, can become stressed. Sometimes they never become good travelers. Then there are others who just love it.

Treat your little puppy like a baby and let them calm down and make the adjustments. The results can be very satisfying.

Don't forget the

WATER

And 99.9% of the time this has nothing to do with what the breeder has done. I am not just speaking

for myself, but for most good breeders who really care about the puppies they raise.

It's what happens when they leave their first home, the only home they had ever known.
